Day 4: Petition
“Give us this day the food we need”
What is petition? Petition is asking God for help. Even though God knows our prayers before we ask, God wants us to ask Him for the things that we want and the things that we need. We should not be surprised when God answers our prayers, because our Father in heaven loves to give good gifts to those who ask.
How do we petition God in our prayers? Pray honestly, telling God exactly what it is that we want and are asking for. Pray persistently for what we need each day, trusting that God will take care of his children.
Biblical example of prayer of petition:
Some wandered in the wilderness,
lost and homeless.
Hungry and thirsty,
they nearly died.
“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and he rescued them from their distress.
He led them straight to safety,
to a city where they could live.
Let them praise the Lord for his great love
and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
For he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.
For ourselves: Ask God for provision for the needs in your own life.
For LIFT: Ask God for open doors for the continued growth of LIFT. Pray specifically for God to provide through the LIFT gala happening today!
For our city: Ask God for opportunities to continue to connect with our city, to be able to show God’s love to every person we interact with.
