In the last 3 weeks we have expressed the love of Jesus to tens of thousands of people. Love in a pancake, pack of gum, cup of water, backpack of supplies or phone call of invitation. Late nights and early mornings, planning and preparation, effort and energy and probably a little blood and tears. God has done a great thing indeed!
To those that have invested your lives: Thank You!
But this is not the end but the beginning. The beginning of a new chapter in an ever unfolding story. A story that precedes our lives and will certainly outlive them.
We stand in awe of what Jesus has done yesterday. But looking back fills us with greater faith and expectation for what he is going to do tomorrow. We celebrate the wins, not because we receive any glory but because each win marks a new step forward of the Kingdom.
We do not bask in the glory of yesterday but in the triumph of the Kingdom tomorrow.
We look forward with faith, hope and love. Who can we reach? Who can we love? Who can we serve? Where can we go? What creativity can be bring? What passion? What energy?
As we are faithful today with what we have we ask: Jesus, what is this the beginning of? What is the new thing tomorrow?
For surely God is faithful to the end and this is not the end.
1 John 2:7-8 “Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before. Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining.”
1 Corinthians 1:8-9 “He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
