Welcome to Lift Church
“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.”
Psalm 40:1-3
VALUES
We rely on the Holy Spirit.
It is only by relying on the power of Christ in us that we can sustain a life of mission. We understand that we cannot change lives, but God’s Spirit can. At the same time, we know that when we take bold steps of faith in obedience to the Spirit’s leading, He moves and works for our good and the good of others.
1 Cor. 12:12, Luke 24:49, Rom. 8:26, Zech. 4:6, Phil. 4:13
We tell others about Jesus’ love for them.
Evangelism is an active process of clearly communicating who Jesus is, what he has done, and why we receive him as our Lord. We have good news, and we get to share it. Every person should have the opportunity to discover and respond to the news that hope is found in Jesus. Therefore, we all work to share the good news about Jesus with as many people as possible.
Rom. 10:14-15, Col. 1:27-28, 1 Pet. 3:15
We all have a part to play in the Kingdom.
Every follower of Christ has the calling and ability to contribute to the body of Christ – not just church leaders. All believers are called to the priesthood to serve the Kingdom of Jesus for God’s glory. Therefore, we invite every person in our church to serve, invest, and contribute to the mission of making disciples.
1 Cor. 12:12, Gal. 3:27-29, Heb. 10:24-25
We help each other follow Jesus.
All followers of Jesus are called to make disciples. The core mission of the church is to make disciples that make disciples. Disciple-making means sharing our time, space and hearts with our disciples while teaching them to follow and obey all that Jesus has commanded. Therefore, everything we do finds itself rooted in raising and sending disciple-makers.
Matt. 28:19-20, 2 Thes. 1:11-12
We share our time, money, and resources with others.
In Christ, we have received all that we could ever need for fulfillment in life. Because of this truth, we adopt the posture of servants. With humility, we are eager to give out of our abundance in Christ to bless others. Our generosity extends to all areas of our lives in words, finances, possessions, hearts and time. Therefore, we seek to be actively and intentionally generous with all we have for the glory of Christ.
Eph. 5:25, Phil. 2:7, Matt. 6:21, Eph. 1:7-9
We love each other – a lot.
Through the church, God is building an eternal family where people from all backgrounds, languages, ethnicities, and cultures are invited to discover a place of belonging and a common mission—to make disciples of all nations. Just as the biological family serves as the essential building block of any society, the church as a family serves as the essential building block of the Kingdom of Jesus. Therefore, we have a deep commitment to loving one another through shared lives and a shared mission.
Eph. 2:19-20, 1 Pet. 2:9, Acts 2:42-47
We go out so we can invite people in.
As followers of Jesus, we are sent into the world to be present with the good news of Jesus. We invite people into the Kingdom of Jesus and, in turn, send them out as ambassadors in their own right. We will continue to send disciples to unreached places until all people have heard the hope of Jesus. Therefore, we are willing to step out of our comfort zones to create space for new people and intentionally go to places where the church of Jesus is not yet present.
