Bring the Gospel to the University of Toronto Mississauga
This fall, the LIFT Church discipleship movement will be coming to the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus!
Growing up, I thought I didn’t want God in my life. I didn’t want God telling me how to live my life and more importantly, I thought I was completely capable of handling life on my own.
In my third year, I found out how wrong I was.
Life became a lot to handle, and the way I dealt with it all was to run away from my problems (both literally and figuratively). But somewhere in the middle of my busy schedule, I found myself at LIFT Church after a friend invited me. Little did I know that my response would change my life tremendously.
Over the next little while, I realized that God is not the authoritative figure I grew up believing He was. Rather, God is our rock, our greatest friend, and our greatest comforter. My obsession with chasing physical pain to run away from and forget my problems was replaced by God’s stability. My unhealthy obsessions were exchanged with God’s grace. I am incredibly grateful for the people from LIFT Church God placed in my life. People who continually remind me of God’s goodness when I struggle to see it, calling me back to Him when I stray, and pushing me to love others the way He loves me.

Shane Park began his discipleship journey at McMaster University as a first year engineering student. Over the last five years, he has faithfully served and discipled many students to be disciple-makers themselves. Shane’s commitment to see students made fully alive in the hope of Jesus gives us confidence that he will continue to multiply disciples and lead people to Jesus at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
He is currently being trained as a campus church planter through the Living Sent Missionary Academy in the Tilling Stream to be equipped and sent to lead at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
Shane has invited two Simple Church leaders, Andrew and Carol, from LIFT Church at McMaster to join him in bringing the Gospel to the University of Toronto Mississauga!
One year ago, I was asking God who to pray for and He placed the entirety of the University of Toronto Mississauga campus onto my heart. At that moment all I could do was say “I will go” and ask that my heart would increasingly break for the students and the campus as I continued to pray for them.
